LEA Determination on Special Education and Related Services

Lincoln is proud to have received recognition from the state in regards to our special education and related services:

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires all states to make annual determinations on the performance of each Local Education Agency (LEA) with regard to the provision of special education and related services. These determinations are based on indicators identified by the federal government and delineated in the State Performance Plan (SPP).

LEAs receive a determination in each of the indicator categories and an overall determination in one of four categories: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention, or Needs Substantial Intervention. The attached LEA Determination letter specifies your LEA’s designation and any required follow up activities as a result of the designation.

The 2017-2018 school year criteria for local determinations are defined on the ISBE website at:

Scott’s Law

Too many Illinois State Troopers have been put in danger or lost their lives by drivers not following the law. The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois State Police are working together to ensure all teen drivers and their parents and families have the information they need to protect those who protect us. Scott’s Law, also known as the Move Over Law, was named after Lieutenant Scott Gillen of the Chicago Fire Department who was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while assisting at a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Scott’s Law mandates that upon approaching any stationary vehicle with flashing emergency lights, including commercial trucks and cars, all approaching vehicles shall:

  • reduce speed
  • change lanes if possible; and
  • proceed with caution.
