Summer break is beginning for schools across the state, so we want to make sure that all students continue to have access to healthy meals. Many children rely on free and reduced-priced meals during the school year, and the Summer Food Service Program steps in to help fight hunger during the summer months by providing free meals for children 18 and under. We are excited to be able to administer this program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Families and children can call (800) 359-2163, text “FoodIL” to 877-877, or visit SummerMealsIllinois.org to find the nearest summer meals sites. The webpage will continue to be updated as more sites are added.
